About me

As a kid I wrote and illustrated dozens of stories and stapled pieces of paper together to make books. It all seemed so simple then!

I’ve always wanted to be a writer.

In graduate school I taught composition and literature classes and discovered that I could use my writing skills to help students write better papers.

I've also published three books Artisan Cheese of the Pacific Northwest (2009), Pacific Northwest Cheese: A History (2013) and Goats in America: a Cultural History (2025).  Although I did not draw pictures for these books, I did take many of the photos!

Editing allows me to use my two passions, writing and teaching, to support other writers.  When I’m not in front of a computer screen,  I’m probably at the Oregon Coast with my senior dog, Maverick.

For more about my writing see my author page here.
