FAQs

Why do I need an editor?

Let’s face it, none of us are perfect writers. Writing is a skill that takes practice to hone and develop. Editors are writing experts who can work with you to elevate your project to the next level.

What are the differences between developmental editing, copyediting and proofreading?

Developmental editing focuses on the content and structure of a manuscript. Copyediting concentrates on language-level details including sentence structure and punctuation. Proofreading is usually the last review of a document or manuscript before publication.

How much do you charge?

Each project is unique, so let’s talk first. Tell me what you have in mind and I will give you a price quote. If you have budget concerns or time constraints, let me know and I will create a custom plan that meets your needs.

How long will it take to edit my work?

Contact me and let’s go over the details. Once I have a clear idea of the scope of your project and your goals I can tell you specifically how long it will take.

I’m in a rush - can you edit my manuscript today?

In general, I prefer that you contact me in advance to schedule your project. But if I have an opening in my schedule, and working together makes sense for both of us, I will do my best to help. In a pinch, I can refer you to trusted colleagues who might be able to assist you.
